As a life-long member of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC), he was taught by his parents to fear God.  At age 16, he received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and flourished in wisdom and knowledge under the direction and leadership of his pastor, Dr. Wiley C. Neal and the saints at the Andalusia COGIC, Andalusia, AL

Bishop Alphonso Denson has lived his life with integrity, honor, and sterling character. He is noted for his unwavering stance in holiness, faithfulness to church, family and community, an impeccable commitment to prayer and his obedience to the Holy Spirit.

​After the death of Bishop James Earl Gordon in April 2014, Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr., leader and Chief Apostle of the Church of God in Christ Worldwide, appointed Bishop Denson as the next Jurisdictional Prelate of the Louisiana East First Jurisdiction.

In 1981 Alphonso Denson married the lovely, Eula Young (an educator, and evangelist missionary) They are blessed with two children: a son, Alphonso, Jr., wife Nakia, and a daughter, Camille and husband, Derrick Guillory, and seven grandchildren. Bishop Denson was employed with NCR/ATT as a Computer Engineer for nearly twenty (20) years.

 

In 1982, Bishop Denson began preaching the gospel under the leadership of the late Superintendent Burley Lafleur in Pineville, Louisiana. 

​

1984 appointed Pastor of the Abram Temple COGIC in Bunkie, Louisiana and is the Founder and CEO of Abram Temple Community Development Corporation.

DIRECTION

A LEADER WHO IS FOCUSED!

  • Work with the Presiding Bishop’s plan to make technological advancements 

  • Fund investment projects through reinvestment of organizational resources

  • Work local and civic government officials to enhance community engagement and to promote economical development projects

Bishop Alphonso Denson as Jurisdictional prelate of Louisiana First East Jurisdiction offers $100,000 of life insurance to every pastor regardless of age or tenure.

 

Relative to the jurisdiction's 30 acres, Bishop Denson is currently in the midst of a notable  Economic Development plan for the property. This includes, but is not limited to, the redesign and development of the jurisdiction's current conference center.  The new development will house  a new business and conference center as well a full-service (4-5 stars) hotel. Given the extremely close proximity to the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport  this project will create a  significant and lasting impact on the regional economy and local community.

 

Additionally, he serves as CEO of Abram Temple Community Development Corporation and is currently working to bring affordable housing units to the community it serves.

Bishop  Alphonso Denson loves the Lord and His people.  The Bishop believes in Holy living and that “Your Best Life Is In Christ.”
